How to read it

  • ▲ building · ▼ dropping · ■ holding (model wave height 12 hours from now vs. now, ±10%).
  • Waves (face) is our rough face-height estimate from the model’s open-water wave height and swell period. It’s not a measurement, and sheltered spots often run smaller.
  • Model Hs is the forecast model’s significant wave height in meters. Swell is the swell period in seconds.
  • MOST and FREE tags sort the spots into two lists.

Real talk: a forecast is an educated guess, and the ocean doesn’t read it. Look at the water before you paddle out, know your limits and surf with friends.
